Thanks for sharing! This is timely since I was just there for the first time last week, with Dan. If I do a 566 post in the future, I’ll be sure to link to you and/or this piece.

Thanks, Bob! He told me when you were birding there with him and of course it was the one day I couldn’t join as I’d loved to have birded with you. Next time! And thanks in advance for the share 💛

I love birding journals. I've recently considered taking a journal and pen to jot my sightings and take notes vs depending fully on eBird. It would be nice to completely disconnect once in a while

Yes! I'm so glad this resonated with you. While I love eBird, I hate being so connected to my phone. When I have my journal I can note stuff in the field, and always enter it in eBird later. Plus writing it down, or making pictures, seats those memories so much more deeply than entering numbers into an app will ever do.

I’m gonna try it! No screen in the field sounds lovely

Thanks for the article. Will you be reporting on the potential effects on Park 566 at the USX site now that development of the quantum and microelectronics park is imminent? Hopefully they will expand and improve additional green space since the IQMP site leaves the potential for a lot more improved green space.

Thanks,

Andrew Reeves

Yes, that's what I'm hoping to do. We have a lot of baseline data to compare with so it'll be interesting to see how things change. I hope the development helps and doesn't hurt the birds. Their breeding territory right now is a pretty narrow strip of land but they could do even better if the developers donated a few additional acres adjacent to the breeding habitat to the park.

I wish I knew more about the birds here in the UK, and I'm enjoying learning about the birds in your part of the world, Kelly!
